Summer School @ IMBA
The international Summer School at the VBC campus in Vienna was founded in 2009 by the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP), the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (IMBA) and selected laboratories of the Max Perutz Laboratories (MFPL). Its major incentive is to make the research campus attractive to young and highly motivated students who are at the beginning of their scientific career.
Each summer, the school brings together 20-25 students from all around the world. Primary research laboratories in various areas of the life sciences provide training and mentoring for individual 9-week projects. These range from neurobiology, immunology and cancer biology to the control of gene expression and RNA biology as well as to structural and computational biology to name a few. By taking part in all scientific activities at the campus and by organizing their own mini-symposium at the end, the summer-students will experience a unique opportunity to explore science and make contacts and friends.
The summer school is fully financed by the participating research institutes and provides to all students free travel, a stipend and assistance in acquiring the necessary travel documents.
