Social Life on Campus

Social interaction is an important part of the daily work at the institute. Instead of working all by yourself you have numerous colleagues in the PhD program, who are experiencing the same daily life and all the successes and problems that come with it.
Besides the every day exchange of ideas between students, post-docs and group leaders, the IMP and IMBA jointly organize a scientific recess once per year. During two seminar days, all groups present their projects and the event concludes with a great party.
An annual PhD retreat gives you the chance to socialize with your fellow PhD colleagues. The two-day trip is dedicated partly to science, with invited speakers chosen by the PhD students, and partly to various outdoor activities.
During weekly social hours and regular parties you can have a relaxed talk to your colleagues while chilling out and having a drink. You can dance, play table soccer, pool or table tennis. In summer, parties are often given on one of our outdoor terraces so you can enjoy some sun and, later at night, a breeze cools heated faces. The annual IMBA outing and the IMP-IMBA ski trip are also occasions to relax and spend time together with your colleagues from the institutes.
All these events make the IMBA a place that, although challenging and demanding, is still pleasant to work in.
